Shachonosake
社長の酒By Matsuoka Jozo, Saitama
A name you won't forget once you hear it. This sake went on sale in the era of Yuji, the fifth-generation head.
About
In the Showa-era period of high economic growth, when ginjo sake was not yet widely known and sake was still classified under the grade system, this sake was released as an ungraded (not submitted for grade inspection) ginjo, neither Special Grade nor First Grade. It was a pioneer of ginjo distribution in Saitama Prefecture, and its reputation grew by word of mouth until the brewery was said to be "the brewery that makes the best ginjo in Saitama Prefecture." Originally, only a very small quantity was brewed for entry in sake appraisal competitions, and the remaining sake was limited to uses such as gifts given by our company's president. The tank was marked "Shacho no Sake" (the President's Sake) as an identifier, and this is said to be the origin of the name. Today, because of that name, it is cherished as an auspicious "shusse-zake" (a sake associated with success and career advancement).
