Descriptive method (byoshaho)
描写法びょうしゃほうThe descriptive method (byoshaho) is an approach to sake tasting in which the characteristics of a sake are expressed in detail. The taster observes the aroma, flavor, mouthfeel, and aftertaste, then puts the impressions and features they perceive into words. The method helps clarify a sake's strengths and flaws and makes it easier to understand each of its characteristics. It is also known as the profile method (purofairu-ho or purofiru-ho), and is an important tool for grasping the individuality of a particular sake.
