Instrument error correction (Kisa hosei)
器差補正きさほせいInstrument error correction (kisa hosei) is an important process for improving the accuracy of measuring instruments. Specifically, it is the procedure of finding the actual value (the true reading) by subtracting the instrument error (kisa), the measurement error inherent in the instrument, from the value the instrument indicates (the reading), as with a hydrometer or similar device. Instrument error is always present in measuring instruments and may also vary with temperature and conditions of use. Because correcting for it makes accurate measurement results possible, it is an extremely important step in sake brewing and evaluation. Accurate instrument error correction makes assessments of flavor and quality more reliable.
