Nuru-kan (lukewarm sake)
ぬる燗ぬるかんNuru-kan (lukewarm) is one of the temperature ranges used when sake is served warmed (kan), and generally refers to a temperature of around 40°C. Nuru-kan brings out the aroma and flavor of sake, and is particularly well suited to full-flavored Junmai and Honjozo. Enjoying sake at this temperature makes the sweetness and umami of the rice easier to perceive, and the softer, mellower texture on the palate makes it pair well with food. The comfortable sense of warmth makes nuru-kan a particularly popular way to drink sake in the cold season.
