PL Law (Product Liability Law)

PL法ぴーえるほう
The PL Law (Product Liability Law, 製造物責任法) is a Japanese law that sets out the liability of manufacturers and sellers when a defect in a product causes harm to a person's life or property. It came into effect on July 1, 1995, and serves as an important framework for protecting consumers. The law stipulates that businesses involved in the design, manufacture, and sale of products must ensure product safety and are liable to compensate consumers who suffer damage because of a defect. Through the application of the PL Law, consumers are guaranteed the right to enjoy safer products.
