Temperature correction (ondo hosei)

温度補正おんどほせい
Temperature correction is the adjustment made when measuring alcohol content or sake meter value (SMV) with a hydrometer (float) at a temperature other than 15°C. Because changes in temperature affect the readings taken from sake, this correction is necessary to obtain accurate values. Specifically, to match the 15°C reference value, the reading is corrected by consulting a correction table. This allows alcohol content and SMV to be evaluated accurately, and it plays an important role in the quality control of sake.
