Seitoku Meijo
聖徳銘醸聖徳銘醸株式会社
About
Seitoku Meijo was established in 1959 (Showa 34) by four sake-brewing companies from Tomioka, Shimonita, Yoshii, and Nanmoku for joint bottling and joint sales. Today the brewery produces sake in Kanra (甘楽町), in western Gunma Prefecture, a town that retains the atmosphere of a former castle town. The name "Seitoku" comes from Prince Shotoku's teaching "以和為貴" (harmony is to be valued). Its main brands are "Hoo Seitoku," "Jokamachi Obata," and "Myogisan," and the brewery aims for a clean, crisp taste that appeals to everyone. It has won gold awards at the Annual Japan Sake Awards a total of 17 times, the most of any brewery in Gunma. It has also won a gold award in the Daiginjo category at the U.S. National Sake Appraisal.
