Activation energy

活性化エネルギーかっせいかえねるぎー
Activation energy is the energy required for a chemical reaction to proceed. In sake brewing, for example, the starch in rice must overcome a specific energy barrier when it is broken down into sugars. The energy needed to overcome this barrier is the activation energy. Enzymes lower this activation energy, helping the reaction proceed more smoothly. Enzymes play an important role in sake production by promoting fermentation, so understanding activation energy is very important in brewing technology.
