Element symbol

元素記号げんそきごう
An element symbol is an internationally standardized symbol used to represent a chemical element. Each element is assigned a unique symbol, usually consisting of one or two letters. This allows the name of an element to be written in abbreviated, unambiguous form. For example, hydrogen is written as "H" and oxygen as "O". Ethanol, the main component of alcohol, is made up of carbon ("C"), hydrogen ("H"), and oxygen ("O"). Using these symbols makes it possible to describe chemical reactions and properties concisely and in a way that is easy to understand.
