FY (Fiscal Year)

FYえふわい
FY (Fiscal Year) refers to the accounting year: a fixed period set by companies, government agencies, and other organizations to organize and classify their income and expenditures. This period normally consists of 12 months, and the point in the calendar year at which it begins can differ from one organization to another. In the Japanese sake industry as well, the term FY has been in use since April 2008, and it plays an important role as an indicator for understanding the financial situation related to the production and sale of alcoholic beverages. Because sake brewers plan their product sales strategies and resource allocation on the basis of the fiscal year, FY is also closely watched as a way of understanding trends in the industry.
