Guinomi (large sake cup)

ぐい呑ぐいのみ
Guinomi is a type of vessel used for drinking sake. It is generally larger than an ochoko (a small sake cup) and is characterized by a flared, wide-mouthed shape. This shape allows the aroma to be enjoyed more fully, so guinomi are especially favored when tasting highly aromatic sake. Many guinomi are also designed to be easy to hold and easy to drink from, so they are used for casual sake drinking as well. As an important piece of sakeware that brings out the flavor of sake, the guinomi also carries cultural significance.
