Horizontal rice polishing machine (Yokogata seimaiki)

横型精米機よこがたせいまいき
A horizontal rice polishing machine (yokogata seimaiki) is a machine used in the rice polishing process, designed mainly to remove the outer layers of the rice grain. Its rollers are mounted on a horizontal rotating axis, and it effectively removes the fruit coat (pericarp), seed coat, and germ by using friction between the grains of rice. For table-rice-level polishing, with a rice polishing ratio of 90 to 92%, applying strong pressure produces smooth white rice. Because of its structure, the horizontal rice polishing machine can polish rice evenly, and it is an essential machine for producing high-quality rice for making sake.
