1:2 Point Method (Duo-Trio Test)

1:2点法いちたいにてんほう
The 1:2 point method is a way of evaluating the difference between two sakes. In this method, the taster first tastes one sake (Sake A), and then tastes Sake A and a different sake (Sake B) blind. The taster is asked to identify which of the two differs from Sake A. The method is widely used in quality control, particularly in shipping inspections, and helps assess differences in the character and quality of sake objectively. It suits situations that call for sensory judgment, and is widely recognized as one of the scientific evaluation methods.
