Itto (18-liter traditional unit of volume)

一斗いっと
Itto (一斗) is a traditional Japanese unit of volume, used mainly to measure sake and other liquids. One itto is equal to about 18.03 liters and is the same as ten sho (a unit of about 1.8 liters). In sake production and sales, it is frequently used as a standard size for shipping and storage containers. For example, the itto-bin (一斗瓶), a bottle named for this unit, is a popular container for holding one itto of sake.
