MC activated carbon (MC-tan)

MC炭えむしーたん
MC-tan (MC activated carbon) is a type of molecular sieve activated carbon, known as a deodorizing agent used in the sake brewing process. It is particularly effective at removing unpleasant aromas such as bin-ka (the "bottle" aroma) and hine-ka (the stale, aged aroma), and it contributes to improving the quality of refined sake (seishu). Because of its distinctive structure, MC-tan is highly capable of adsorbing specific substances according to their molecular size, and it plays an important role in the finishing process of refined sake. This helps produce sake with a clearer, crisper taste.
