Nagata Noho (Nagata farming method)

永田農法ながたのうほう
Nagata farming (Nagata Noho) is an agricultural method devised by Teruki Nagata, a Japanese farmer, with the aim of encouraging plants to grow naturally. The method keeps water and fertilizer to a minimum and focuses on drawing out the plant's innate vitality. As a result, it makes sustainable agriculture possible and can reduce the burden on the environment. In rice cultivation in particular, importance is placed on increasing the activity of microorganisms in the soil, and the method is expected to yield healthy, flavorful rice for use in making sake.
