Nishigo

西郷にしごう
Nishigo (西郷) is one of the Nada Gogo (the Five Districts of Nada), a renowned sake-producing region of Japan. It lies at the western edge of Nada Ward in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, and belongs to Kaminadame (上灘目). Nishigo has high-quality water from clear streams, a favorable climate, and good rice, so the conditions for producing excellent sake are all in place. Sake brewing has been practiced in this area since long ago and is characterized by the use of traditional techniques. The local breweries each have their own style and produce a variety of sake, including aromatic Junmai.
