Radiation (fukusha)
輻射ふくしゃTerm: Radiation (fukusha)
Radiation refers to energy emitted from a high-temperature object, a phenomenon in which heat is transferred through space without passing through a material medium. Sunlight reaching the Earth is one example. A hot object emits radiation in the form of electromagnetic waves, and when that radiant energy is absorbed by another object, the absorbing object gains heat. In sake production, heat transfer by radiation can play an important role in the heating of steamed rice and moromi (fermentation mash).
