Rice variety labeling

原料米の品種名の表示げんりょうまいのひんしゅめいのひょうじ
Rice variety labeling refers to the name of a specific rice variety stated on a sake label. Under the Labeling Standards for Manufacturing Methods and Quality (製法品質表示基準), a variety name is to be shown only when that variety makes up more than 50% of the rice used as the raw material. When a variety name is shown, its usage ratio is also stated alongside it, which helps consumers understand the quality and character of the sake more clearly. This information is important because the choice of rice has a significant influence on a sake's flavor and aroma.
