Tanrei karakuchi refers to sake with a light, crisp drinking character and a refreshing taste that carries no perceptible sweetness. Sake in this style is characterized mainly by its easy drinkability and clean, light aftertaste, and because it pairs well with food, it can be enjoyed alongside a wide variety of dishes. Local sake from the Tosa region in particular is often brewed in the tanrei karakuchi style, and this light, dry taste has become a representative characteristic of the area.
