About

A brand that has been loved in Kyoto for a long time. A light junmai sake that pairs well with kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese cuisine). Kimpyo was created in 1810 (Bunka 7) at Akiyama Shuzo, on the banks of the Shirakawa River in Gion. Its name comes from the Sennari Hyotan gourd favored by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Through a fortunate connection, Matsui Shuzo later took over brewing and carries the tradition forward.
