Whisky and brandy category (Uisukirui)

ウイスキー類ういすきーるい
Whisky and brandy category (Uisukirui) is a classification under Japan's Liquor Tax Act that groups two product types, whisky and brandy, into a single category. Whisky is a Western-style spirit made mainly from grains such as barley and corn, which is fermented, distilled, and then aged in barrels. Brandy, on the other hand, is a spirit made from fruit, which is fermented, distilled, and aged. In this way, the category covers two spirits with different characteristics: whisky, made mainly from grain, and brandy, made from fruit. Many types of whisky are also produced in Japan and have received international recognition, so Japan's whisky culture is very rich.
