About

In my twenties, I was passionate about mountain stream fishing. Like everything I do, when I start something, I tend to choose the most difficult method. For stream fishing, I relied solely on artificial flies. I had decided never to use lures or bait, and I often came home empty-handed. Still, whenever I ventured deep into the mountains of Oyama (大山), where no human hand had touched the land, I was struck by the clarity of the air and the water. I would set out to catch yamame (mountain trout), but I often returned having caught only the scenery.
