Liqueurs (Rikyuru-rui)
リキュール類りきゅーるるいLiqueurs (rikyuru-rui in Japanese) are beverages made mainly from alcoholic beverages, sugars, and other ingredients, and the category refers in particular to those with an extract content of 2 degrees or more. Under Japan's Liquor Tax Act, approval from the head of the district tax office is required when sake (seishu) is used to produce a liqueur. Liqueurs are generally sweet and flavorful, and are flavored with ingredients such as fruits, herbs, and spices. They are enjoyed on a wide range of drinking occasions.
