About

Kame no O is a rice variety originating in Yamagata Prefecture, which was widely planted across Japan from the late Meiji period to the early Showa period. The rice became widely known among sake fans through a sake-themed manga built around it. In 1982, Yonetsuru obtained authentic seed rice that had been preserved at a Yamagata Prefecture testing station, and its kurabito (brewery workers) began cultivating it locally to revive the variety. ◇Recommended for those who: ・Are looking for sake made from a rare or talked-about rice ・Want a Yamagata souvenir with a connection to Yamagata ・Want to compare it with Kame no O sake from other well-known breweries
