About

Founded in 1882 (Meiji 15), Kunimare Sake Brewery is the northernmost sake brewery in Japan. It brews with pure water drawn from the Shokanbetsu mountain range in Hokkaido, where winters are severe, and with Gohyakumangoku, a sake rice grown in Hokkaido. Polished to a rice polishing ratio of 65%, this Honjozo has a light and delicate (tanrei) palate and a sharp finish, making it a dry sake. It can be enjoyed chilled or warmed. It has won a gold medal at the KAN SAKE AWARD. It is recommended as a food sake that brings out the flavors of a meal.
