About

The name Ichiho (壱穂) was chosen to express our wish that drinkers taste the character of each individual grain of rice, the flavors of the small grains that make up the whole. Unassuming yet well balanced, it is a junmai sake that quietly stays by your side, with a gentleness that makes you want to say, "Thank you, as always." We recommend it lightly chilled, at room temperature, or lukewarm (nurukan). Enjoy the umami and acidity of the sake, along with the soft flavors of rice. It is a taste that brings a sense of relief with the first sip. Well balanced and easy to pair with Japanese cuisine in general, it is a bottle that brings out the flavors of food. Our brewery's Ichiho is part of a series named after rice ears, alongside Maho (万穂). Where Maho evokes a carpet of golden rice ears spreading across a field, Ichiho is a flavor you want to savor slowly, like a single rice ear held in your hand. It shows the many possibilities that rice holds. This sake won gold medals at The Fine SAKE Award, Japan 2014 and the SFJ Kanzake Contest, earning two titles. We invite you to try it in a wine glass, and also warmed (kan).
