About

In the Edo period, Matsui's sake crossed the sea aboard two ships, the Hachimanmaru (八幡丸) and the Tenjinmaru (天神丸). The Fujichitose brand, which has been carried on since the brewery's founding, is said to have been named to pray for safe voyages to the sacred Mount Fuji and to wish customers a thousand years of happiness. This is the genshu (undiluted sake) that represents the Fujichitose line, left to rest for a full summer as a namachozo (unpasteurized stored sake). A mellow, softly aged sake with a rich umami. Enjoy on the rocks, chilled, or warmed to lukewarm (nurukan).
