About

In the Edo period, Matsui's sake crossed the sea aboard two ships, the Hachimanmaru and the Tenjinmaru. The Fujichitose brand, used since the brewery's founding, is said to have been named to pray for safe voyages to the sacred Mount Fuji and to wish customers a thousand years of happiness. The genshu (undiluted sake) that represents Fujichitose is bottled directly as it flows from the sake press, with no water added. Because it is smooth and rich, it is best enjoyed on the rocks or chilled. Namazake is shipped only during the cold winter months.
