About
Suzuki Shuzo is a sake brewery founded in 1871 (Meiji 4) in Iwatsuki Ward, Saitama City. It is the only sake brewery still operating in Iwatsuki Ward, and it brews with groundwater drawn from its own well. Its brands include Gokujo Manryo, made with Yamada Nishiki grown in Hyogo Prefecture and polished to 35%, as well as Manryo, Otemon and Iwatsuki. The brewery has won gold medals at the Annual Japan Sake Awards several times. On site, it has a sake brewery museum displaying sake-making tools and a direct sales shop, and it is designated as a traditional industry business site by Saitama City. To mark its 150th anniversary, it released a commemorative sake called Marui Sake π.
