About

This bamboo sake uses a distinctive technique to seal honkaku shochu (traditional distilled shochu) inside the nodes of the bamboo. The shochu is brewed with water from Kururi in Kazusa, a region known for its fine water. The fresh fragrance of the bamboo and its minerals dissolve gently into the spirit, giving a slightly sweet and mellow flavor. The bamboo is yakitake, bamboo whose surface has been scorched during processing. Because the surface is charred, the bottle has the feel of a folk craft. Once the shochu is finished, the bamboo can be displayed or used as a single-stem flower vase.
