About

Kitamura Syuzo Co., Ltd., the brewery behind the sake Shojo, was founded in 1788 (Tenmei 8). The name Shojo comes from the Noh play "Shojo." Guided by the words "Yomo tsukiji banbai made no (take no ha no) sake, kumedomo tsukizu, nomedomo kawaranu" (the sake of bamboo leaves, which will never run out for ten thousand generations; though poured, it never runs out; though drunk, it never changes), the brewery has carried on its craft over the years, keeping the fundamentals of sake brewing at its core without pandering to the times. Made with 100% Okayama-grown Omachi rice, this junmai daiginjo genshu is bottled unfiltered and undiluted, without pasteurization. The result is a fresh, mellow sake. Serve chilled.
