About
Kambai Shuzo is a sake brewery founded in 1821 (Bunsei 4) when Suzuki Heibei, originally from Omi, began brewing in Kuki, in the old province of Musashi. It stands in the town center of Kuki, about a three-minute walk from JR Kuki Station, and produces sake including the brands Kambai and Kuki. Aiming for what it calls "the ultimate ordinary" (kyukyoku no futsu), the brewery says it strives to make sake that is purely delicious and easy to understand. It is also described as the first brewery in Saitama Prefecture to use Sake Musashi, Saitama's original sake rice, in brewing. At the Annual Japan Sake Awards, it won a Gold Prize three years in a row, from 2015 to 2017.
