This sake brewery stands on Shichiken-dori in Echizen Ono, in Ono, Fukui Prefecture. The family business dates back to 1733 (Kyoho 18), when it began as a hardware merchant. It entered sake brewing in 1901 (Meiji 34) and brews the Hanagaki brand. Guided by the philosophy of "committing to handcrafted methods and carefully brewing only a quantity that can be closely watched over," the brewery is devoted to making junmai sake. In 1997 (Heisei 9), it achieved a lineup made up entirely of tokutei meisho-shu (special designation sake), and today two-thirds of its output is junmai sake. A retail shop attached to the brewery sells the brewery's products.
